I can see Menino doing a bang up job as facilities director for a large campus, especially if it involved closing deals to get big buildings built/renovated.
Anything as visionary as chancellor would be a big stretch, particularly for such a large institution. I wonder if he's just yearning for some of the attention that Marty Meehan is getting this week, no?
