Scariest thing I ever saw at Stony Brook

When the kidlet was tiny (still in a stroller tiny), we'd go for walks in the woods there sometimes. One day, while walking on the path that wends along the golf course, I heard what sounded like a car coming toward us. It was. Some idiot had somehow driven onto the path and was now heading back toward, um, I'm not exactly sure where he was heading (he most definitely was not a park ranger or anything like that, just some jerk in a car).

Headed to the graveyard?

Deep into the reservation, and also near the golf course, there is a car graveyard, with about 20 clunkers slowly rusting to dust. I've always assumed they have bodies in the trunks, but then again, I've heard that Turtle Pond is the prime local spot for body disposal.

Cockfighting?

Is there a cockfighting underground in Boston? If there was Hyde Park seems a likely place for it.

Aside from animal and auto dumping the Stony Brook Reservation is also a hang-out for guys looking for "discrete encounters" with other men. It pops up every so often on the craigslist personals. So if you see a man without a dog or kids sitting in his car at the little parking area near the baseball field...now you know.
