Young punk gets his on the Blue Line

It's the feel-good Blue Line story of the day, featuring some thug wannabe sprawled across two seats, an old white-haired man who gets on the train and a blogger who reaches her limit.

judgmental glare

By Anonymous (not verified) | Fri, 04/04/2008 - 12:15pm

"Me" asserts the slouching teenager taking up the two "priority seats" responded to a judgmental glare. the result was good and its nice "me" cared to facilitate it but I wonder if there's another way to communicate so that all three parties walk away feeling good about each other.

the bright side

There's something ironic about judging the judger for being too judgmental and judging the crank for being too negative. It's only human. Ironically human.

Hey look at the bright side. We all pretty much agree there may have been a better way to get the teenager to think about the situation. (I wonder though, if I would have engaged.) How often does that happen here that we all pretty much agree? She accomplished that!

crankiest blog ever!

no.

it is indeed the crankiest blog ever. i read it for a while but felt a lil'bit poisoned in my deep, inner soul so i had to stop.

still...

she did the right thing, but i think if young punk is keeping a blog he wrote an entry about the self righteous bitch sitting across from him. my money'd be on that being his take. all she had to do (or the old guy for that matter) is use a pleasantry like "hi, excuse me but..."

this world is going straight to hell, i swear.

HA ;)

By Fabulous (not verified) | Fri, 04/04/2008 - 1:18pm

The self righteous bitch was actually standing. Otherwise she would have gladly gotten off her ass to offer her seat to the old gentleman ;)

The problem with a lot of these comments is that they don't speak to the post. So you don't like her writing or pinky colors and don't have the stones to comment without being "anonymous". But about her post...

She has her own opinion on a teenager not caring for the care and safety of an elderly person on the train and her reaction to it. Which, if you actually read the whole post, goes into full detail of her thoughts and subsequent actions. Which is how she wants to write her blog.

We can't all be cheery anonymous people...

You should monitor and delete all ppl not commenting directly on the above state articles. Where did this freedom of speechthing take off?
alot of the fun of this is just tit tatting with the other ppl and reading the stuff. sorry you dont see it that way.
having "stones" is the worst way to address anything- how corny!

Are you even trying to make sense?

I've been watching with horrified fascination. I'm actually starting to feel nostalgic for the days of "independentminded"

Nice!

By Fornya | Fri, 04/04/2008 - 3:43pm

"independentminded" … now that was a cranky, crazy blogger.

Fascination

Definitely. :)

Fabulously cranky? I don't think so.

By Fornya | Fri, 04/04/2008 - 3:43pm

She's cranky? Holy shit I am downright curmudgeonly. I am a crimson, seething hate, rage and anger at all the things I see and read. I don't even like myself. At least, that's they way it is if Fabulously Out There is cranky.

Have you seen her doggie? How could someone with that pooch be cranky. You all so crazy!

You go Lewis! Defend your Eastie neighbor!

Doesn't seem all that cranky to me either

By Michael Kerpan | Fri, 04/04/2008 - 5:00pm

Of course, I've sort of done the same thing myself a few times.

By Dan (not verified) | Sat, 04/05/2008 - 3:48pm

When I had a broken back, I can't count how many times I got stared at for not giving up a seat for some more deserving type of person. Almost every time the stare was coming from someone who could offer the seat they were sitting in to the other person. They see a young guy and snap to a conclusion. These people look at a complete stranger for 2 seconds and think they have all the information they need to judge that person. How hard is it to politely ask someone to push over or give their seat to someone else?
