Our new official state motto

Move over boring Latin phrase that translates as "Leave me alone or I'll run you through with a sword." Here comes "Massachusetts: It's All Here." The state's produced 90 30-second TV spots based on the theme, all of which you can see on the state tourism Web site.

Angela Natividad finds the new slogan uninspired, but writes on AdRants that she likes the whole "there's so much to do in Massachusetts we have to run a new ad every day" theme - although it could be even better:

You know what would really have spiced this whole thing up? A Mooninite or two, Where's Waldo?-style.

Via MetaBoston, which suggests the state make each spot embeddable for better viral-marketing goodness.

Curmudgeonly predictions

Family Guy's recent "Spirit of Massachusetts" homage/parody will probably do more for the tourism industry than "It's All Here".

Personally, I miss the oh-so-ironic reassurances that we could, indeed, make it in Massachusetts.

Turn out the lights on the way out ...

Well Spatch, those of us who bought houses before Y2K and didn't take equity loans are doing okay ...

As for the motto, it needs a bit of a tweek: "It's all heah, but don't expect to find it!"

Sort of like "it's all there" in my parent's house where my mother wouldn't throw out or fix anything worn or broken ever. Like the junk drawer in the kitchen "it's all here".

It's all here all right - good luck finding it, though. We'll snap at you and attack your character if you expect there to be any public displays of guidance.

makin' it

Oh, but this thumbs-up slogan (thanks, Governor King!) was first around while we were giddy during the Massachusetts Miracle of the 80s. Then we fell into the late 80s-early 90s recession, so I think it lost or something.

The buttons were silly

My husband still has one - terribly retro! I remember seeing the residue of them when I came here in '84. They are soooo 1970s!

Making it in Massachusetts

The only reason I remember that slogan is that when I was a kid, my town's 4th of July parade had a float that said "Gypsy Moths are making it in Massachusetts!"

A bad year for the trees, I guess :-)

"Leave me alone or I'll run you through with a sword."

I like it and it rings true.

I really like the one that we had. I thought it was "leave me alone or ill run you OVER WITH MY CAR"

Contest time!

I think UH absolutely must have a contest to list what's here in Massachusetts.

With the arm and sword hovering menacingly
over the head of an American Indian.

How about "Give us your land and accept our
small pox or I'll run you through with a sword!"

Nice "work", Massachusetts

Glad to see that now we all live in a Bud Light ad.
