Bomb threat empties Boston Latin Academy

Nothing found, of course, after somebody called and said they "had stuff all over the building."

Well, it's good BZ cares. My 14-year-old doesn't. City kids may be too blasé.

I: What can you tell me about a bomb threat?
He: We had a bomb threat.
I: What happened?
He: Somebody called in a threat. They rang the fire bell and we went outside for half an hour. Oh, and they brought in the bomb squad and searched the building. I don't know whether they found anything, but I assume they didn't because they let us back in.
I: Did you miss any classes?
He: Not really, it was a half hour about fourth period.
I: So you missed half a class.
He: I guess so. They kept on with schedule B.
I: So, you missed lunch?
He: Yeah, that's why I'm in the pantry.

Ho hum.

high school bomb scares

By Anonymous | Tue, 04/08/2008 - 8:07pm

My high school had string of two or three bomb scares in a row (class of '78). Then they stopped. We'd all tried to guess who it was and why they were doing it. No one was really afraid of a real bomb detonating. I suspect kids today feel the same way. Why would terrorists pick a high school instead of a high value target? It's much more likely a crank call.

Right about now is when

Right about now is when people start posting " the police overreacted", " we live in a police-state" and "this is all post 9-11 hysteria". Personally, I blame Bush.

No, right about now ...

Is when somebody wonders why conservatives can't do any better than make up a straw man and then argue against it.

The rest of us wonder what stupid kid tried getting out of a test today.

no, the song: right about now, the funk's so rubber....get it?

I am an alumn of the school, when I heard of this it terrified me. I only graduated 2 years ago. Something's really happening to this new generation, mine included, where they all seem so indifferent towards anything actually going on around them. All alot of them seem to care about is what that celebrity is wearing/doing/going out with...or what the new dance craze is. None seem to be that concerned for his or her future.

I spent a winter of 1970-71 bouncing in and out of the same building - it was Boston Tech - due to fire alarms. Not fun.

I know it all sounds like overkill but you cant be too careful, esp with kids/school.
After finding the gun casing I know a parent of a student and she seemed terribly upset. I can see why.
