Victimless Crime?
What's with describing copper theft as a victimless crime? Regardless of the poor guy who fell there is still a victim - the church from which they STOLE the copper! Perhaps this is nieve of me, but wouldn't one solution to this be to make an example of whatever unscrupulous scrap yard accepts this kind of scrap? Do people regularly show up at scrap yards with four copper gutters or weather vanes, or sculptures, or any of the other (historically significant) things that copper theives have been stealing?
Somebody has to pay to replace....
...the stolen copper material -- whether the owner or his insurer. Not victimless at all.
that's worth a letter to the newspaper
that is, if that headline appeared in print and not just on the web. Theft is never a victimless crime. Does anyone here live in Winchester who can look at today's Star?
"Victimless" is the above the fold headline on this week's Star
I have posted my photo of the Winchester Star cover, freshly plucked from my mailbox. Headline is "above the fold!" Odd thing - it's the April 11th edition (on April 24th - when last week's edition is marked April 17th.) Hmmmm, Wicked Local = Wicked Stupid?

stupidity front and center!
Wow, not only is it in the printed paper, it's the main headline on the front page. Since you read this newspaper and I don't, do you want to write a letter?
I can walk into the office
I'll stop by and register my concern in person.
