Deval Patrick endorses Day of Fundamentalist Supremacy?

Blue Mass. Group has the details on a proclamation by Patrick in support of a national prayer day organized by a fundamentalist group that specifically excludes Jews, Muslims, Catholics and even many Protestants from leading its prayer events that day (see its coordinator application).

Personally, I'm not at all surprised that Patrick is groveling to the fundamentalists.
More likely sheer carelessness

You see this sometimes with seemingly good causes that the Herald then reveals is linked to Scientology - the pols who support whatever it is simply failed to do due diligence.

Deval was too busy writing his "How to succeed in life" book to notice. What's the over-under on him finishing out his term?

Wrong no matter who
There shouldn't be a government-endorsed day of prayer in the first place. Congress shouldn't have established one; it directly contravenes the First Amendment. The proclamation affirms the freedom to pray but implicitly rejects or disparages the right not to pray. The use of the Book of Psalms implies a specific religious endorsement, regardless of who selected that quote. Patrick has no business, in his capacity as governor, telling people to pray.
The link to the Dobsons merely makes it worse. Patrick has no excuse even if he didn't realize it.
