When Little League runs amok

Christine is not enamored of the way her town's Little League installed giant lights and now a PA system on the field next to her house:

... Oh Joy. Doug and I were out there and he turns to me and says "Oh PLEASE tell me they're not going to do this all summer long?"

"Honey, of course they are. What, do you think they are just going to do it TODAY?"

We could hear it in the house with all the windows and doors closed. Our dogs were FREAKING out because of it. Eventually we took them swimming because I just could not deal with them barking and freaking the hell out all day. This is nice. I am so looking forward to all summer. ...

I wonder if Christine has

I wonder if Christine has tried talking to the organizer's of the little league or perhaps the city with respect to setting up some sort of guidelines regarding use of the PA and the lights. Perhaps she could get a few of her neighbors to also voice their concerns about it in a more productive manner than just blog whinging.

that's the next step

it came up at the bus stop this morning. I'm not the only one who found the PA system a surprise this year. No one else was informed or got a letter. Someone called the cops.

One of the parents at the bus stop knows the league coordinator and said she'll call him. I don't think it is the cops' responsibility to field (ha ha ha! funny) these kinds of neighborhood situations.

i'm sure it will all be resolved nicely. One parent pointed out the season isn't that long and will be over soon. it won't run into october...
