Bob Ryan slaps CHB upside the head

Could Bob Ryan be blogging about this Curse Boy train wreck of a column when he writes the following?

Have we no institutional memory? People are beginning to act as if something odd is going on in the Celtics-Hawks series, as if we've never seen this before.

If so, that would be so cool.

Thank you, Bob Ryan

And speaking of institutional memory, Bob? Don't you dare even think of taking a buyout offer from the Globe. We need you where you are.

I only wish this were a printed column and not just a blog entry.

He probably is

Probably, but on the Tony Kornheiser Show this morning, he specifically attacked the Herald on this issue. But I think that's just because he didn't want to mention CHB on the air.

Data versus Superstition

It is really easy to look at winning/losing "streaks" and insignificant wobbles and try to make meaning of them.

It is apparently far too hard for CHB (cursed hair boy) to actually do a quick search of previous Celtics series like Ryan did and disabuse himself of his cursed notions.

Nevermind that we are looking at a rather young team that has very little aggregated individual playoff experience and no playoff experience as a team.

Occupational Hazard?

When you're paid by the word to write about ritualized tribal warfare (i.e. without the tribes and without the warfare, just rich professionals from nowhere bouncing balls), should it be surprising that you sometimes lapse into nonsense?

True

We sometimes get all out of sorts over relatively meaningless fluff, don't we? I'm as big a fan of the Celtics as there is - I was born in the year they won their first championship; I'm wearing a Celtics baseball cap even as I write this; I've ordered the Celtics license plates for my green car - but even I sometimes have to pull back from it and realize that we're talking about a bunch of pituitary freaks who have made millions of dollars via the expedient of putting a rubber ball through a hole.

Having said that, though, I'll likely jump off the Tobin if they lose this series.

That's lucrative "nonsense" to you, pal!

CHB turned the "Curse of the Bambino" in to
the "Coursing of Cash to the CHB" with multiple
books for the gullible.

CHB should take buyout

By Ron Newman | Thu, 05/01/2008 - 1:16pm

he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself for publishing this dreck the day after Ryan's blog entry.

Because nothing says "Celtics win" ...

Quite like a reference to a 20-year-old SNL skit about Mike Dukakis.
