Let's see, DiMasi's under fire for flaming ethical violations and calls up his friends at the Globe asking for a sympathy-induced puff piece to help his awful image.

The only thing anyone can come up with is that some lunatic sent him threatening letters and therefore a Statie parked in front of his condo for a couple weeks.

Sorry, Sally, you get no love from me. here's hoping for a censure!

Your first mistake - you assume that some nut actually sent the letter. This is what you do when you're under attack. You make yourself a victim. One of the hacks sent the letter, they show it to the cops, now Sal is a victim.
