Let's hope Reston the Rooster isn't among them
The Bulletin reports disemboweled chickens have been showing up at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Roslindale for two years now and residents are getting fed up.
However, the mayor's neighborhood coordinator tells the paper that this might be a First Amendment issue:
... The religious connotations of animal sacrifice, McNulty said, also have to be taken into consideration. "We don't want to infringe on anyone’s religious rights." ...

Headless chickens in windless park.

Mayor's lackee is an idiot
Nobody's religious rights are violated if it's a public health situation and rotting chicken carcasses in a cemetery are a public health concern. PETA can't stop people from performing sacrifices as part of Santeria but that doesn't mean they get to leave their crap laying around after they've performed their religious ceremony.
I'm all for blood sacrifice,
I'm all for blood sacrifice, but please pick up after yourself. This isn't a concern about religious rights, it's a concern about our "diverse" population.
Off-Leash Worship Next?
I guess the "dog people" who want to let their dogs run without leashes in big open spaces just need to incorporate themselves as devotees of some Dog God or Goddess and then they won't even have to scoop up after?
Sorry, but where does it say that to properly make your deity happy you must leave rotting chicken parts in a park?
the residents are getting fed up?
I believe that the chickens are against this too.
