We start 'em young in Boston
Christine Bower reports that when she got her free iced coffee at Dunkin' Donuts a couple weeks ago, she was behind two kids, looking about 6 and 9, who were also there for their free coffees:
... The younger boy wasn't able to read the Red Sox posters hanging in the shop, and the older kid struggled to sound out the words. After they got their Free Iced Coffees and left, I was actually a bit dumbfounded. My first instinct was to pity their adults, because the boys would be a handful that evening (this was about 6 pm); my second instinct was that if you allow children that you are responsible for to wander around a major city with no adult supervision, you deserve hyperactive, caffeinated brats.

A 9 year old was struggling
A 9 year old was struggling to sound out the words? Sounds like caffeine is the least of their problems!
Free Range Kids
Check out this blog. There's something to be said for letting kids learn for themselves (in this case, that too much coffee prevents sleep).
Kids don't have the common sense they weren't born with
Although I must admit my aversion to vodka (unless mixed liberally with orange juice) probably stems from the time my grandfather offered me some "water" that was, in fact, pure vodka (but I don't think he was trying to teach me a lesson about the evils of alcohol, him being a former bar owner and all).
Starting young
I started drinking coffee when I was 7
They said it would stunt my growth.
Today, I'm 6'4" and 250 pounds.
Thank G-d I started drinking coffee when I did, or I'd never be able to find shirts.
OR...
Or perhaps their parents just sent them in to grab the coffees while they waited for them in the car? You know what they say about assumptions...
