Boston cop gets sent away for two years for Rozzie gas-station holdup

Michael Jones of Dorchester pleaded guilty today in Suffolk Superior Court to holding up the Best of Boston station on Washington Street in January. He was sentenced to two years in state prison and also ordered to undergo drug and alcohol treatment, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Jones, 44, who had been out sick for more than a week, used his service weapon to hold the station up on Jan. 11. His lawyer later said he was drunk and off his meds, in part due to the stress of caring for his father, ill with leukemia.

If you squint hard enough, you can almost imagine it being out on some lonely highway in the Arizona desert instead of on Washington Street in Roslindale.

It's scary to think of how many boneheads are on the force through hand me downs.

I feel bad for the good guys who do their job and take pride in law enforcement.

What's worse?

Cops going "off their meds" and holding up gas stations, or over-medicated cops walking the beat. Did they ever say what meds he was on, and if they were anti-depressants, shouldn't that have been cause to have the BPD deem him "unsuitable to be licensed to carry a firearm"?

If it were Joe Citizen on Prozac looking to get a gun license, well, we all know how that would work out.

after leaving my car here for repair. they "borrowed" it to the tune of almost 100 miles and a 1/2 tank of gas. They did fill up my tank for me.
