I have today off, but was puzzled by why J. was still home at almost 9 a.m. In his words "the Orange Line is broken and I'm driving to work."

Yeah, I just left Malden
Yeah, I just left Malden Station after three announcements that we weren't going anywhere and should find alternate transportation. Hanging out on a packed train for an unspecified amount of time didn't sound too appealing to me so I came back home to find another way in.
no bus?
no bus?
From Malden to South
From Malden to South Station? Not on your life. I was about to do a Malden --> Wellington --> Davis --> Red Line kind of thing when the delays started clearing up so I just went back to the station and started my day over.
There are definitely some
There are definitely some mornings that I wish I could start over.
For once, not the Red Line.
For once, not the Red Line.
Totally broken...
I was stuck on that stupid train. We sat at NE Medical Center for awhile, and then they told us to get off because it was disabled.
Then it took them ages to get the disabled train out so another train could come in. We piled on that, and they inched their way halfway between NE Med and Back Bay and then.....inched their way backward right back to NE Med.
After that, I just WALKED to the Hancock Tower. It was clearly going tobe the speedier option.
Residual delays, mbta.com says
In an 8:18 a.m. alert, blaming a disabled train at NEMC. I'd hate to see what serious delays are like.
Yeah, the residual delay
Yeah, the residual delay message was a recent update. It was "significant delays" up until about 10 minutes ago.
So now I may as well go back to Malden and try again.
It appears to be not broken
It appears to be not broken anymore.
Huzzah!
And now Orange Line riders can enjoy the soothing tones of Mike Lowell and Alex Cora telling them, in English and Spanish, why they (the riders, that is, not Lowell and Cora) should take the T (which, when you think of it, is kind of odd in general, because if you can hear their announcements, you're already taking the T).
already on the T
that's a good point
plus, neither one of them would be caught dead on the T...
...they'd have to mingle with the unwashed masses.
No sir- it's Land Rovers and Mercedes SLRs all the way!
and yet
when Andrew Ference from the Bruins tells you he rides the T, you really don't have an doubt but then again, I think few of us would actually know it was him.
