Variety is the spice of life

When the Missus and her husband (Mister Missus?) are drifting off to sleep, what usually wakes them up is gunshots, loud music, loud talkers or "people screaming to other people that they are 'deadbeat dads." So she reports that the firecrackers the people in the next street over were setting off around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday were a nice little diversion:

I guess the party doesn't ever stop in the South End.

Puerto Rican Day

By Beth (not verified) | Mon, 06/30/2008 - 12:44pm

The Puerto Rican Day parade and related festivities occurred yesterday. How can you live in the South End and not know that?

It started at 4:30 Saturday morning?

That's one early parade!

Wasn't that in Roxbury, not the South End? (And not right at the boundary, either.) The South End does have its own Puerto Rican festival later in July.

The parade occurs along Blue Hill Ave. But people tend to celebrate all weekend in all neighborhoods. There are a lot of Puerto Ricans in the South End.

I guess it's time for her to move her ass back to the burbs where it's all clean and nice.

Just me?

By Kaz | Mon, 06/30/2008 - 12:54pm

Is it just me or has there been quite a bit of nasty trolling and heavy-handed anon posting lately? It's like the Boston Herald commenters finally found this site or something.

Yeah

Probably finally time for me to crack down on myself and figure out how to require a login for posting without blowing something up.

And I never got around to dealing with the technical issues involved. Will do so this week, I hope.

Anything we can help with?

i'm guilty of the occasional Anon posting, not with the intentions of trolling but because of neglect to login on my work computer. I do agree though, its far easier to be an obnoxious troll with that Anon barrier to protect you.

Dave Greenblatt

I lived in the South End for 12 years and have moved to JP as the South End has gotten so unbearable to live in with people like that chick whining about everything and trying to homogenize the neighborhood.

Thanks. You can email me if you want:

Noise complaint == homogenization?

By Ron Newman | Tue, 07/01/2008 - 1:22pm

No matter how diverse the neighborhood is, it's reasonable to complain about firecrackers going off at 4:30 am. People of all ethnic backgrounds need sleep.
