Local blogger to make World News Tonight

Millie Garfield will be on ABC news with Charlie Gibson tonight, son Steve reports (and yes, Steve was there during the interview, videoing the camera crew; look for a "making of the report" report).

could she be any more banal?

Innovative retirement?

-When she was your age, $50 got you...

-Her shampoo bottles are hard to open!

-Florida is warmer. She eats out more there, so she don't have to go to the grocery store as much, and the restaurants are better in Florida. Then there's this gem: "The one problem with the popular places is, there is usually a long wait." WOW.

-She registers her cars in Florida (OOPS, not listed, but she probably does) to avoid excise and sales tax on their Mercury Grand Marquis.

It's pretty much the usual grandma-comments interspersed with stock-art images from Flickr, which she barely attributes. What's innovative? The fact that Steve showed her how to use blog software?

So, where's your blog? I assume you're posting much more interesting things than all the bloggers you complain about.

Dear anon,

1. My mom does not register her car in Florida.

2. When you click on the photos, they link back to the original. That's how flickr's new embed code works.

The innovation is using technology to participate in a community.

I checked it out and found it entertaining. Not all blogs have to be cutting edge and innovative (mine certainly isn't.) Usually I try to stay away from the user arguments and negative comments that sometimes dominates the comment sections; however, your comment was unnecessary and rude. Steve was just pround of his mom and rightly so.
