Well, now we know the side effect of diverting state and city police resources to absurd levels...

Very unfortunate. Don't blame the police for doing their job.

You mean the ones constantly telling us to "report suspicious packages or behavior"? The ones swarming our public celebrations of freedom- searching our belongings? Or the ones listening on our phones, reading our email, checking lists of sites we surf?

Those terrorists, who convince us to engage in xenophobic fear of the foreign bogeyman, whiles ignoring the fact that our deaths are overwhelmingly either personally self-inflicted or inflicted by our fellow countryman?

Sounds more like

Sounds more like manslaughter. Assault that lead to cardiac arrest.

A witness who was sitting on a bench across from the Purple Shamrock pub told the Globe that the man was approached by four others and beaten over the head with "what looked like a towel."

I'm sure he must have said something smartass to them and they couldn't control themselves.

They are heroes who were sacrificing themselves to control the rest of the crowd, no doubt.

I was across the street in Dock Square at that time with no idea that a murder was happening. There were so many people about too, although many distractions as well (buskers, et al).
