Did people used to pull up in their Studebakers and Ramblers to this now ancient pump on Cummins Highway in Roslindale? Did a bell, activated by an air hose, ding twice, summoning a swarm of snappy attendants in spiffy uniforms who'd check the oil and clean the windshields as the driver went into the station for a free map and a bottle of Coke (which he'd down after using the wall-mounted opener)?
