Maybe it's part of the T's new voluntary cleanup program

That is great

A couple of friends and I have been thinking of dressing in tuxedos sometime and doing typical "bathroom attendant" things on the Red Line. We'd wipe seats for passengers before they sit down, wipe the windows with spray bottles, offer free shoe shines, have a basket with mouthwash and other toiletries, etc. Just to enhance the experience of the passengers.

So I'm glad I know where I can find a free spray bottle; that should lower our expenses substantially. Now I just have to hope it's still there, and have to wait hours to find the right train car.

And nobody reported it to

And nobody reported it to MBTA Police as suspicious? :)

Actually, with the wrong liquid inside, and a loose cap that is wiggled apart by car vibration between stations, that could've been be a very nasty device.

Nope

Nobody reported it because it wasn't covered in glowing LEDs, so therefore was not suspicious.
