Dunkin' Donuts is dead to her

Getting a cruller instead of a jelly stick this morning was the last straw for Mels:

Every time I go to the Dunkin Donuts at work, something is wrong with my order. ...

Wait! They have crullers again?

different kind of cruller

By cynical | Thu, 07/24/2008 - 12:33am

Even after they replaced the long, twisted crullers with "sticks," some DD shops continue to sell the so-called French crullers, really just a crispier, ridged, less-glazed version of a glazed doughnut. They're round, not straight ... hard to describe, but I know you know what I mean! Here's a photo.

What could be a crueler

What could be a crueler switch?!

What I really miss from Dunkins are those "cinnamon buns", which I haven't seen anywhere in over five years. The "coffee rolls" are abysmal by comparison.

I would also sometimes kill for an old-fashioned with the top dipped in maple or chocolate. Or an apple fritter. Thankfully, some 7-11 stores get passable apple fritters and tasty blueberry crude approximations of old-fashioneds.

I just Googled for a photo of "old fashioned donut", and the first hit was from my hometown. The next photo on the page shows a fritter. Perhaps there are ingrained regional preferences at work.

I hate ordering one thing

By ShadyMilkMan | Thu, 07/24/2008 - 5:38pm

I hate ordering one thing and getting another at these places, especially if you are in the drive thru and cant fix the problem. Theres nothing more dissapointing then waiting for your favorite guilty pleasure only to be subverted and stuck with a donut stick which is probaly just as bad for you but doesnt taste nearly as good.

Before I get assaulted for depending on the drive tru let me explain: Most of the local DD's in my area have impossible to navigate parking lots where once you park your stuck in the spot for a while waiting for other people to move around. At least this way if I get hit its not me backing into someone else...

Worst one in the area

Is definitely the Porter Square location. Poor communication, messed up my order about 4 times, very slow service... i'm boycotting them and considering filing a complaint with the head office (not that that will do anything)

No, the ones out by me

No, the ones out by me (Blackstone Valley) are just as bad.

Coffee not made to order, wrong bagels, sandwiches, drinks given all the time...
