File this under: Yeesh. Boston Police report an argument at Stella Restaurant, 1525 Washington St., turned ugly last night when one patron stabbed another diner in the chest with a butter knife - and then continued the fight outside, where he really tried to put the hurt on the guy. It all started around 10:50 p.m.:

Staff members at the restaurant broke up the fight without realizing that the suspect had used a butter knife as a weapon. Believing the altercation to be over, the staff escorted suspect from the premises and left him on West Brookline Street.

Soon after, the victim left the bar, where he encountered the suspect a second time. Another altercation broke out, in which the victim was punched, thrown to the ground, and kicked by the suspect. During the struggle, a nearby motor vehicle's windshield was smashed.

Cleon Tagaris, 38, was arrested on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery, police say, adding the victim was treated and released at Boston Medical Center.

Innocent, etc.

Impulse control people, impulse control.

Imagine stabbing your dinner partner with your silverware? Hmmm... do I use my butter knife or dinner knife...

No, I'll get this check, you can get the next one.

I bet he had an alibi

But it probably melted pretty quickly under questioning. Oh, well, butter luck next time. In any case, the victim can be thankful he didn't throw the butter knife at him.

Cleon Tagaris
joined the pantheon of crafty crooks this week when he was allegedly able to dodge a drug charge through some quick thinking.

Tagaris had been monitored by the police Wednesday evening in South Boston when officers allege that the suspect engaged in a drug transaction. A marked cruiser stopped the car Tagaris was driving and when officers approached the vehicle, they allege he placed a small plastic bag in his mouth.

Tagaris, who allegedly shoved an officer repeatedly, was eventually subdued, but only after swallowing the plastic bag.

He was arrested on charges of assault and battery on a police officer.
