Finally: Greater Dedham to get Bobinator store

Tammy gets the scoop: The old Circuit City that used to be the old Child World on the old road that used to be Rte. 1 will soon become a new Bob's Discount Furniture.

Which one?

Er, the old Circuit City used to be the old Child World (and before that it was an ice rink, I think). The old Stop & Shop is on the other side of the property and was once considered for a Christmas Tree Shops location.

That is not a good place for a Bob's Furniture (or any major retailer) in terms of access and parking. There's like 20 spots in front. Logistically, it's a horrible site. Unless, of course, Bob has the foresight to move the entrance to the long side of the building facing Lowe's or the facing towards the rotary.

Yep, that's the place

Which somebody once told me was a Stop & Shop before they moved to the one where Dick's is now.

It was a Stop & Shop

It was a Quonset hut-shaped Stop & Shop before Child World moved there (you can still see the outline of 1/2 of the roof), but Stop & Shop moved into the Dedham Mall where DSW is now and Child World moved from the current Staples location at Rte. 1/Eastern Ave. over to the new Bob's location. I have no recollection of any ice rink.

Before the era of super-sized supermarkets we had Stop & Shop there, Capitol at the south end of the Plaza, First National off Rte. 1 at Elm St., and A&P in East Dedham.

I don't see the parking situation there as being any worse than the one in Stoughton.
