Beats annoying people with a cell phone
Ana Salwa reports on the familiar stranger she sees a couple times a week heading toward the Mass. Ave Orange Line stop - who always seems to be looking at herself in a mirror:
... This morning she leans on a gray Suzuki Vitara. As usual she has a mirror in her hand. This time time she holds the mirror in her right hand.
Using her elbow to support her arm, her upper body leans heavily on the side of the jeep. She extends her mirrored hand and turns her head to the left momentarily, and she brings the mirror closer to her face. She looks full face in the mirror and parts her bang in the middle.
Then she reaches a comb from her tattered canvas sling bag and runs the comb over the parted bang twice. She brings the mirror to about 6 inches her face and turns her face to the left. ...

false advertising
I saw this hed and thought, "WHO beats annoying people with a cell phone?"
Then I pictured all the annoying people with cell phones beating each other.
Can't beat it with a stick
Oh, now wouldn't that be super awesome on a stick! Ultimate Cell Phone Smackdown! Or Type A Man (to steal from
RobotmanMonty) Wields His Mighty Fists of Justice.Alas, I was thinking strictly along "this is something that can't be beat" lines. Honest.
Beats me, said the masochist
My first reaction on seeing that headline was that a cell phone is too small to inflict much damage.
Cell phones should be outlawed
If cellphones in cars are outlawed today, it would be too soon.
I even wrote a story and put it here.
It's a fictional account of Menino banning phones all over Boston.
Enjoy.
Like all other laws around here
it would only be enforced when the BPD found it convenient or the Mayor went on crusade.
outlawing systematic distraction of talkative drivers
There is bill in the Commonwealth legislature the outlaws texting by drivers and requires drivers to use hands-free cell phones to make cell calls in their cars.
Dunno if they've voted on it... or if the Gov vetoed the t-ball development on Blue Hills Reservation.
I'm almost against banning texting in the car
If it wasn't for innocent bystanders, there's no easier, clearer way to cull the herd and improve the general gene pool. I mean, how freaking stupid do you have to be to think that's a good idea.
I thought they passed a rule
I thought they passed a rule for the under 18 set already about texting and driving?
Is eating while driving still illegal?
How about driving barefoot?
