Kite festival called on account of none of the participants being Ben Franklin

I got to Millennium Park today about 10 minutes before the first bolt of lightning flashed in the distance and the announcer at the annual kite festival told everybody it was time to call it a day.

Even as most people reeled in their kites, some still looked skyward, hopefully:

But it was kind of hard to ignore the thunderclouds piling up all around the field at the very top of the hill that is Millennium Park - that is, the mostly treeless field where the tallest things were people flying kites:

All these storms of late sure seem to come with really dramatic clouds. Millennium Park's a particularly cool place to watch them because you've got 360 degrees of unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside.
