This sounds like one of those old mob movies where some guy gets shot on a pier and somehow the shooter gets away even though they are in the middle of the city on a pier with one exit point.

Time to round up the usual suspects.

I like the Globe description

The parking lot, located on Northern Avenue, is not far from Anthony's Pier 4, an upscale seafood restaurant overlooking Boston Harbor.

Good to let those Iowa readers know how Anthony's Pier 4 overlooks the harbor. And good to point out that the parking lot is "not far" from the restaurant - which makes sense when you realize it's actually Anthony's own parking lot!

Thats a scary parking lot at night too being so long and relativly narrow, and kind of dark at night. Its especially troubling when leaving Pier 4 late at night.

I guess you would say that their parking lot, right in front of their restaurant, is "not far". Maybe they were trying not to connect the murder too much to the restaurant, but it seems like a convuluted way of saying where it happened.

I ahd to pick up my car from the ICA parking lot at like 2am... is indeed a sketchy place.

Since when do State Police get assigned details in the city of Boston to manage crowd control for private affairs?

Did they have a chnace to finish their donuts?

Waterfront?

By adamg | Fri, 08/22/2008 - 9:12am

Maybe because of the Massport issues Channel 4 reported on last month?

Oh, for the days when the Globe actually had a reporter who covered the waterfront.

I'm just saying ...

Anthony's Pier 4 is an Italian restaurant, isn't it ...

Italians, Albanians, pasta, schrod, what's the diff?

Albanian, actually

By SwirlyGrrl | Fri, 08/22/2008 - 11:07am

Anthony was a distant cousin of my husband, (not that Albanians ever care about that "distant" part) and I've gone there many times with my husband's extended family on various occasions. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever paid for a meal there.

I always liked that about

I always liked that about the Italian and Jewish (Greek too I think) cultures in the US (and apparently the Albanians, who knew.) I come from ethnic groups that either dont seem to care about connections beyond immediate family (Germans), dont care unless your well off (English), or care more about the group as a whole and their circles (which may or may not contain extended family members)than extended connections (Irish.) I have a slew of extended relatives in New England and have never been in contact as a family member with anyone outside of the 2nd or 3rd cousin ring.

Summary of a 1997 Law & Order episode (except we won't get a special prosecutor when the DA refuses to go for the death penalty) (Via one of the Herald's ever helpful story commenters; in among the usual crowd bashing Tom Menino and South Boston).

Adam, you're welcome!

I live to serve. (Why don't they get it over with and rename A&E the "Law & Order Network"?

Boston Police are asking witnesses who were on the Outrageous in Red cruise to come forward (anonymously if need be, natch).

On the cruise

By adamg | Fri, 08/22/2008 - 8:53pm

Ghetto Uprising was on the cruise last night:

... in a good, packed jam with some pretty good live performances where fine ass sistahs outnumbered dudes for once in the history of parties who the fugg is thinkin' bout beef?! fa real, I'm sayin', it was soca music playin': "wine, wine! jook, jook! jump up, jump up! wave ya rag an' ya flag!" it's the most jovial music in the world. how does one's brain even process murder amidst all the revelry and excitement and good vibes flowing? ...

my big bro caught a glimpse of the deceased lying lifeless, stiff, and bloody on the concrete as he drove out the parking lot. what a morose exit from an otherwise damn good night. ...
