DA: Thug kept shooting even after his victim picked up 4-year-old and ran

Larelle Pratt, 19, of Dorchester, was ordered held in lieu of $150,000 cash bail today after pleading innocent to charges he tried to gun down a Roxbury teen and the teen's 4-year-old cousin.

At his arraignment in Roxbury District Court, the Suffolk County DA's office had requested bail be set at $500,000 for the double shooting on Bragdon Street. In a statement, the DA's office described the police version of the shooting:

Assistant District Attorney Daniel Mulhern told the court that Pratt was one of two men walking along an alley adjacent to Bragdon Street on the night of Aug. 19 when they stopped and engaged the older of the two victims in a conversation before leaving the area.

A short time later, Mulhern said, Pratt returned and fired multiple shots at the older victim. That victim was hit once and picked up his 4-year-old cousin before running away from the scene. As the victim fled, Pratt continued to fire, striking the 4-year-old and causing injuries that were serious but not life-threatening. Both victims were rushed to Boston Medical Center.

Among the various charges against Pratt is being an armed career criminal because of a prior conviction for a Roxbury incident.

Innocent, etc.
