What would you do with a spare $10.8 million?

Seems the city of Boston has a spare $10.8 million left over from the last fiscal year just burning a hole in its pocket.

Property tax refund

They obviosly collected too much to begin with. That's not supposed to happen. Everyone should get money back.

and when was Menino going to announce this to the public?

Or does he only share nuggets like this with bullshit "watchdogs" like Samuel "Boston's Best Interests' Best Interest" Tyler?

tell them to save it or give back to tax payers

They should save it or give it back.

Look at California they have lots of problems after spending to much in the good times if they spend it they will have to keep spending it and that could be bad if times get worse

10.8 mil?

Why not use the money to install thousands more gaudy giant thumbtacks to point out places a tourist can find in any tourist book?!

Hire cops. Duh.

Maybe they'd actually show up when you call them if they had enough.

No- I think we have too many cops now.

They've become a menace in themselves, IMO.
Hire better cops, perhaps, but more cops is not necessarily better.

Roll it over

Nearly every city and town is going to face a shortfall next year. I think it would be wise to carry that money over and use it for things that cannot be reasonably planned for - like a big snowy year eating all the plowing money.

The other thing it could be used for: maintenance of things usually ignored - like sidewalks and playgrounds and public buildings and other places that make Boston look like a total hole sometimes. Draw up a list and invest that money in things not falling to crap in the future.
