Vandalism in a West Roxbury playground

Don't be surprised

Don't be surprised if Area-E cops figure it out... if they've been successful laying the groundwork with community policing. Get to know the players. Get the eyewitnesses to talk. If they do ID them, then I'd be satisfied with replacement costs and spending the time to install and repair the damaged items.

Is that the one...

...down by the Corrib Pub? They were having trouble there with the local Scumbag Jr. population long before I moved away from the area.

It's the one on VFW Parkway

You're thinking of Billings Field, where the Fruits and Veggies used to beat other kids up, but they're all in college now.

Hynes Field used to be our kidlet's favorite park - she was climbing on the big-kid playset before she could even walk, it's where we'd go sledding, but she hasn't been back since they replaced all the playground equipment a couple years back. She's still mad about that - but no, your honor, she wasn't anywhere near the park this weekend. :-).

Sex fiends on the loose?

Boston Police have released some more info on the incident, including:

Several beer cans were recovered as well as items of clothing. A handsaw was also recovered in the woods behind the damaged park bench. Park workers recovered a small bag with various sex devices and condoms inside.

They add:

The Boston Police Department of Area 5 is outraged and sympathizes with the residents in the West Roxbury community. Hynes Filed was just recently renovated and with the addition of the sprinklers it has become a place for families to come and spend summer days with their children. It is appalling that individuals would have such lack of respect for not only the area in which they live, but also those who find joy in using Hynes Field; particularly the young children.
