You won't have to worry about being buried in snow tumbling off the Stata building this winter

$3-million MIT project includes snow retention systems and snow melters.
So they won't be needing a sign like this one (on a state office building in Montpelier, Vt).

What about the Garage????
The article made no specific mention of this. Many of my colleagues who parked under Stata had a few horror stories about getting into and out of the garage in the wintertime. The percentage of the grade leading to the entrance and exits from Vassar were so steep that snow and slush would sluice down and collect right where you didn't want it. You prayed you could stop at the bottom getting in and you prayed you could find purchase in order to get out. Well, perhaps the measures will fix this problem, or at least prevent stuff from sliding off and splashing cars' windshields. Now with the East Lot gone, parking on campus is going to get even more scarce.
