Proposed South Boston heliport could become proposed Logan Airport heliport

The Boston Business Journal reports Tom Menino said last night he'd consider moving a proposed heliport at the Marine Industrial Park across the harbor to the airport instead. On the one hand, South Boston residents hate the idea of all that noise, noise, noise, noise; on the other hand, Menino said, downtown businesspeople want a heliport closer to downtown than Logan (because we know how far away that is, right?)

The traffic and police helicopters buzzing over out building near the airport are in many ways worse than the planes. Adding more noise, polution and traffic to East Boston is just another slap in the face. And, they want us to pay for this privilege by losing our reduced tolls?

How about a heliport on top of a downtown highrise building?
A helicopter taking off and landing 60 stories up won't cause any trouble. : 0

Until a gust of wind causes it to miss the landing pad...
