Williams was a SuperHero of the Basque community. He's perhaps Hispanic through mixed heritage - although the Basque don't like the Spanish very much and don't speak Spanish, it sounds like his family made friends in Mexico.
There is a noteworthy concentration of Basque-Americans in the dry desert areas of far Eastern Oregon - so I knew squat about the RedSox in grade school and thought Babe Ruth made a good candy bar, but I'd heard of Ted Williams the Great Basque Baseball Player for certain!
