Police say man was packing heat - and a baby

Boston Police report arresting an alleged gun-toting thug in Dorchester yesterday after he got into a cab carrying a loaded gun - and a baby.

Police say Kevin A. Taylor, 19, of Dorchester, was wanted on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, accessory after the fact for murder, kidnapping, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, reckless child endangerment and witness intimidation.

According to police, officers from the fugitive unit tracked him to an address near Capen and Morton streets and were about to go inside to arrest him when they saw him come out of the building holding a baby and get into a cab with the baby and a woman. They followed the cab for a short distance, then stopped it at 85 Capen St., where they got Taylor out of the cab, frisked him, found a loaded revolver, then put him under arrest.

This is at least Taylor's second arrest in connection with a loaded gun. In December, 2006, he was arrested on unlawful-weapons charges when police, responding to a report of gunfire, allegedly found him with a loaded gun on Maxwell Street.

Innocent, etc.
