Because we can never get enough movies about Irish mobsters in Boston
Sam Baltrusis reports that Spike TV has ordered up "a two-hour TV pilot centering around Irish gang warfare in Boston."
Walter Hill will direct the pilot:
Scheduled to shoot on location in Boston, the story revolves around the explosive fallout that occurs when a Boston mob boss abruptly vacates his position and various rival factions face off in an epic battle to control the streets.
Surprisingly, no Wahlberg brothers are involved.

Kinda funny how the Irish
Kinda funny how the Irish mob angle became more and more popular as the actual Irish mobsters started to dwindle in the 90's and Boston becomes less and less Irish. Dont get me wrong we are still very Irish, but not like it used to be. I always got a kick out of nostalgia like this (and Salem with their witch themes.) 150 years from now will there be Irish mob attractions and tours all across the city? Maybe an amusement park?
Yeah
If it's like most "historical" theme parks, they'll be serving boiled potatoes on a stick, saying it was everyday food.

I can't wait for the Where's
I can't wait for the Where's Whitey? ride, that charming boat trip around the world where kids use special flashlights to try and spotlight that lovable fugitive hiding among dozens of singing dolls.

Nostalgia for "small town America", and any subdivision with streets named for the farm they replaced.
Cannnn youuuuu diggggg itttttt?
Worth noting here that Walter Hill directed "The Warriors," one of the, uh... well, more noteworthy movies about urban gang warfare.
Stay good, Warriors, all the way to Coney
Something tells me the Baseball Furies won't be in this film but you know, a buncha drunken Sox fans from Southie (with red and blue faces) would be a decent alternative.
The Pink Hats would probably be an Allston/Brighton contingent.
And Dale Dorman
As the DJ playing "Nowhere to Run."
Now you've done it
I ain't no Pink Hat here in A-B! Besides, any gangs around here are probably called the Alpha Betas or the Ringer Riffs.
Besides, I hear Somerville is Lizzie turf.
Indeed.
Between the Lizzies, the Tufties, the Sligos and the Elm Street Hipsters, Davis Square is a very busy place.

Enough already. When are the movie types going to discover Russian or Asian gangsters?
GTA looks at Yakuza Russian
GTA looks at Yakuza
Russian gangsters , arent they prevelant in many movies including "evil" Russians in one form or another?
Or latin mafia
I think the movies are under-representing latin-american gangs
Only because ...
Harrison Ford took care of them all in one of the Jack Ryan movies.
I used to like the Tom
I used to like the Tom Clancy books when I was in high school but came to realize he idolized this Jack Ryan character he is like Chuck Norris and Jack Bauer combined. At least some of the movies based off of his book bring the character back down to life.
I love the way how he actually made it all the way to the Presidency and was still involved in the same old problems that had plauged him and the country for decades.
