Rich leafy goodness

No, we didn't go up to New Hampshire today. We took a walk along the path that meanders through Stony Brook Reservation on the Hyde Park/West Roxbury line, ending up at the dock across Turtle Pond from the one you normally see on Enneking Parkway. For a few seconds, we had some company:

...it's sometimes amazing how much natural goodness is in the metro Boston area, accessible via the T. I'll have to visit Stony Brook Reservation one of these days!
Easy enough...
The Hyde Park/Readville side is accessible by Routes 32 and 33; the West Roxbury side is accessible by Routes 34, 34E and 40. Be careful on Enneking Parkway and Turtle Pond Parkway, though...cars tend to go fast on that road.
There were some amazing leaves
in the Arboretum today!!

Thank you for the nice post card of all the purdy leaves. Staying here in Pasadena, but no parade floats or football yet. Already tired of seeing palm trees. Save some of that foliage for me, okay?

Would you like me to get a picture of 1920 Lorain, San Marino, CA for ya? It's like 5km from here, just past the botanic garden.
Funny thing is, that street backs up to a cemetery, and the cemetery might predate the neighborhood.
Maine and New Hampshire had plenty of fall-like goodness...
My brother and I went to Maine yesterday for the Seashore Trolley Museum bus exhibit, and the colors were gorgeous.
On I-95, though, there were a lot of leaf-peepers, which explained the armada of drivers clogging the Hampton and York tolls.
It was beautiful today
Our family was inspired by these pics to go spend a couple hours walking the trails and hanging out on the far side dock at Turtle Pond today. We had a lovely time - thanks adamg!
(though it's a shame all the visitor lots are locked up - makes it very hard to find a safe place to park. A fellow trekker we met told us the reason was that about 10 years ago some neighbors feared that drug dealers might decide to use the lots for nocturnal transactions. Seems to me that if that were the case, the police would have a simple time rounding them up - very few road outlets from the reservation and few if any bystanders after dark to get in the way of an arrest.)
