Sears is a store ahead of its time

AppleFoot reports the Sears at the CambridgeSide Galleria has already put up Christmas trees - with lights and ornaments.

Or maybe they forgot to take down their displays from the '80s - because they are also selling leg warmers.

Thank heavens leg warmers

Thank heavens leg warmers are back.

Several years ago, I thought I'd pick up a pair for a Floridian female friend who was barely surviving that extreme Boston winter. She'd be warmed either by the leggings themselves, or by defensive giggling as she weighed hypothermia vs. fashion death sentence.

I ended up scouring all of CambridgeSide and Downtown Crossing in the snow, before finding in a clearance table in a corner of Filenes, in a pile of socks and scrunchies and such... a single pair of leg warmers.

As a cyclist...

...I normally wear leg warmers if I go out early on a cool morning and pull them off when it gets warmer and put them in my jersey's rear pocket. They're very convenient this time of year.

Crazy!

Looks like their expecting a dismal shopping season with the economy in disarray. By starting earlier maybe they can make a few extra dollars.
