South Boston carjacker takes off with driver still attached

Channel 4 reports a carjacker pulled away in an Ohio man's car from the Courtyard Mariott tonight - with the man, a police officer back home, here on vacation with his family - still attached. After the man dropped off, the carjacker abandoned the car nearby on Bellflower Street, then got out and forced a woman at gunpoint to give up her Jeep.

who expects valet parking at the Courtyard?

While the linked WBZ story doesn't say anything about it, this AP story says he "gave his keys to a man who he believed was a valet".

Courtyard is one of Marriott's more budget-oriented brands, so I'm not sure why someone would expect them to have valet parking....

Some do

I was just at a Courtyard in Atlanta, and they had valet parking. In fact, you couldn't park yourself at all.

Thanks!

I wouldn't have guessed that, and I'm glad to have real info to replace my guesses.

Does anyone know if the Boston location has or has had valet parking?

Marriott carjacking victim was a police officer!

Too bad he didn't have his gun with him

That would have been an interesting story.

Would have been interesting?

I'd say it was interesting.

Prosecutors said Feliciano found the officer's gun in the car and used it later to steal a woman's Jeep after entering her home and demanding her car keys.

The only way it could have been more interesting is if the dumb yokel shot someone instead of just letting someone run off with his gun.

Non-resident w/ gun in car

I sure hope he had an out-of-state LTC, otherwise that's a felony right there.

Of course, he's a cop, so he won't get charged. Yay corruption!
