What makes us experts?
If Belichick came to my place of work and offered his opinion on something I was doing, I would tell him that I have spent decades doing this, and futhermore, he was unqualified to offer useful advice.
Yet we all think we can second-guess him.
This is why
The same reason I think my iPod would be better if the battery was designed to be removable.
Or if my cell phone had a battery charger interface that was consistent with the USB interface standard instead of their custom bullshit plug so I had to buy their custom bullshit plugs.
Or if roads in Boston had bike lanes, and all stop signs were replaced with Yield.
Or if the MBTA had remodeled Kenmore so that BCD lines weren't dependent on each other for their own traffic problems.
Or many other things encompassing all aspects of my life, which I will probably always have an opinion on... and the more interested I am in the thing, the stronger my opinion will be.
I consider myself qualified to offer advice on all these topics, and I will always feel that way... but I won't hold myself out as an expert.
