Holy Name: Where'd all the people go?

Vote WOOF on Question 3!

Around 7:45 a.m., Holy Name, normally busy, busy, busy, was pretty empty. No TV crews, only one politician - state Rep. Mike Rush - and virtually no voters (except, unfortunately, for the one woman who backed right into my car, creating a nice-sized crater, grr).

How cruel to have those

How cruel to have those greyhounds out without mittens and hats on.

great photo!

No greyhounds to report at the Copley Sq. polling location.

Q3 cont cont

If only Q3 had anything to do with the health and safety of dogs...

You convinced me. I voted

You convinced me. I voted NO because I feel it is not inhumane to race dogs while it is inhumane to treat them inhumanely or euthanize then when their racing days are over. Fix the question, and you'll get my vote.

Convince yourself.

Q3 doesn't ban dog racing nor inhumane treatment of dogs whether or not they are racing, only private bets between people about the timing of dogs.

If the dog track can find a way to make money that doesn't involve private betting, they can remain open and nothing changes regarding the care of the dogs. Then, we have less freedom, and dogs are still mistreated. Mission Accomplished!

It's a matter of a state-wide prohibition on private financial decisions between people. If you think that freedom is worthless, your vote is understandable.

Going to the dogs

Just one greyhound was campaigning at the East Boston High School polling location. No sweater, but he was pretty convincing anyway.

I voted to save dog racing.

I voted to save dog racing. If there are no greyhound races, what happens to Swifty?

Greyhound invasion

One showed up at the polling place in Kenmore Sq, but of course they wouldn't let his human take him inside. (Why on earth was she surprised by that?) Fortunately a nice young woman in line next to her offered to hang back and tend to him for the 20 minutes or so it took his owner to vote. Honor among dog ladies...
