Trysting proves trying for top police official

The Globe reports on allegations that the second highest official in the Boston Police Department meddled in discipline against a police-academy instructor suspected of having an inappropriate affair with a recruit.

Meanwhile, the Herald reports Commissioner Ed Davis is looking at ways to cut costs as the department burns through its budget at a faster than, well, budgeted rate.

this guy is a good guy. he is a hardass and not the most popular guy in the department but he is fair. i dont know what happened here but i hope the department doesnt lose this guy.

"fair"?
