Two Brighton men arrested in April, 2007 on charges they planned to sell the 125 pounds of marijuana police allegedly found them with were indicted today on federal drug-trafficking charges.

An indictment issued in Syracuse, NY today charged Michael Harris, 31, and William Morgan, 28, and 32 other people of being part of a ring that allegedly smuggled roughly 10,000 kilograms of Canadian pot through a New York Indian reservation over the past three years. A whole slew of Canadians were among those charged.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, both men were already in custody awaiting trial on their Massachusetts charges. Both were arrested on April 19 by Boston and state police and DEA and Immigration and Customs Enforcements agents, who say they found 100 pounds of pot in their Hardwick Road apartment and another 25 pounds in Morgan's Toyota Avalon. Also seized at the time: $100,000 in cash.

The federal charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana could mean prison sentences of between 10 and 40 years in jail, along with fines of up to $4 million for each of them, according to a statement by Acting US Attorney Andrew Baxter in Syracuse.

Innocent, etc.

Sounds like they very quickly need to find 2,000 friends willing to pay $100 each to help them out here.

Can you do that on craigslist? That's super 420 friendly!

that sounds like some 1960's propoganda pamphlet.hilarious. honestly, its not easy to get any 420 on craigslist. friends of mine have tried to no avail. anyone looking to buy is instantly accused of being a cop. now if your looking for a casual encounter and you are 420 friendly you might just be in luck.be careful on the ski slopes ;)

mary jane called! She wants to meet at 4:20, the crack of dawn, to go skiing. Benny and Barb will be there with her ex, throwing snowballs at the purple windowpanes!

bostnkid has it right - this sounds like one of those drug education tracts from high school with seriously outdated and geographically misplaced slang terms for drugs.

They don't even have the origin of 420 right - it was slang from SoCal in the late 70s for meeting up after school to smoke at 4:20pm. Check out the football score in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" - that old! It had spread up the west coast by the early 80s, and now it's gone national.

I was once biking home from Lowell when a group of aromatic teens asked me what time it was. I pulled out my cell phone, smirked and told them. 4:20! After they stopped giggling too hard to talk, they asked "no, really, what time is it?". So I showed them the time on the phone and left them to their giggle fit.

It's a good thing these vicious violent criminals were brought to justice. Many lives will be saved.

Truly, a good use of millions of dollars of state and federal tax money spent on law enforcement. Where would we be without our police overlords protecting us? God Bless America.
