Nothing says green like building a whole new city hall somewhere that is less T-accessible (if put in Southie)

REFUSE reduce reuse repair recycle

I'll stick with the first one for now, until the city can't afford to heat / cool the vast open air of the current city hall.

Who are the prospects for Mayor 2009? Flaherty v. Yoon? Is Mumbles running again? Sadly none of these candidates will make any difference from the status quo.

Well my one problem is, why wasnt this mentioned months ago by the mayor? It was obviously meant to upstage another politician, and he made it way too obvious, so no points for him!

Can we just start with an *actually* "green" Government Center Plaza, Hizzoner? I don't think the bricks will mind if they were to get re-purposed.

How about proving how good a politician you are by getting everyone involved in Government Center to agree to dig it up and put in some grass and paths and things. Brutalism looks better when it's in contrast to its surroundings. Right now, it's like city hall is influencing everything around it.

Amen. It's a brick wasteland, it looks horrible, and is far from green. Reuse those bricks elsewhere for something desired!

Of course, this change will require service-spending to landscape and maintain whatever replaces it. I can only imagine the Kennedy Greenway maintenance costs... knowing Boston it's probably in the millions annually, not to mention the police details overseeing the landscaping "construction"...

I like the idea, sorry for the obligatory cynic view

I think that is the single biggest thing they can do to green themselves.
