Sox get Ramirez

No, not him. Jeff relays the news from Kansas City, that the Sox are trading Coco Crisp (personal wah moment: Even besides his name, I always loved his batting stance) for reliever Ramon Ramirez.

I knew this day was coming for quite a while. We just needed the right desperate partner because Crisp's numbers were never so stellar as to justify someone taking him for filling a big offensive need. I feel a little bad for Coco though, because he does seem like a decent guy and a little bit chippy which never hurt. We seem to have really left some of that behind from our past trophy winner teams. Youk is about the only "chippy" guy on the team now and he takes it all out on himself and his helmet rather than the other team.
Ellsbury had better take a cue from the fact that we've cleared a path for him to be an everyday starter now and shape up at the plate, though. I don't think I can take another 182 games of ground ball outs to the pitcher 5 times a game at the top of the friggin' lineup.
hey kaz
d. pedroia is a chippy mvp!

Chippy? I don't know. He's something other than chippy. He isn't the kind of guy to go out and pick something with the other team when he feels slighted. He'll go out and show what he's worth at the plate or in the field, but he doesn't seem to go crazy when it's sometimes good to do so. That's what we had in Coco, Tavarez, even Manny to some extent. It's just a different feeling now.
Why the deal makes sense
