Great cause, I cant wait to stop on the hill near my house and check out the View of the Blue Pru.

One funny thing, they call the Pru the tallest building in Boston... That would be the John Hancock. Im willing to let it slide, mainly because Im still upset that John Hancock cut off viewing from the observation post after 9/11 and never brought it back. The Pru lets me go up there and check out the view. So in my opinion, the Pru wins and an be deemed the tallest building in Boston by anyone who wants to call it that.

The problem is that their observation deck wasn't designed to be an observation deck. It's not separate from the rest of the building like floors 51 and 52 are at the Prudential center. Security wise it's a problem because it's more difficult to control the flow of traffic and probably way way way too much of a hassle to try and retrofit it in.

So Osama is sitting in a cave, planning his attack on observation decks? J. Hancock closed the observation room because they wanted the space for themselves. It had nothing to do with security. This was well-discussed at the time.

I remember when Iwas a kid we went to the Hancock Tower, and we were shuffled into one line for one elevator that was roped off, and some guy was in the elevator with us. You meaning to tell me there was no way to make that elevator not work on any other floor, and there was no way to keep those people seperate from the general population in the building?

I was on top of 60 State Street once for an event, and they seemed capable of handling the general public...

People are sneaky.

I'm not saying what I heard was rational. I'm just saying what I heard, which very well may be false. I probably should have disclaimed what I said.

Wrong. The original condition for the city permitting the constructing in the first place was that the observation deck be open to the public free-of-charge. As many have pointed out over time, other buildings re-opened their decks/floors after "9/11", but the Hancock tower has not. Mostly because they're lazy and saw an oppertunity to try and get out of the agreement.

I was led to believe otherwise. My mistake.
