Roslindale to lose a drug store

Word reaches us up here in the mountain fastnesses that the Washington Street Rite Aid is closing. This Wednesday.

Wednesday?

Just that former-Brooks? Any others.

I'm wondering if the pisspoor retail design had something to do
with it. Huge lobby full of nothing.

Yep, that's the one

Nancy was looking at something Christmas-giftish and the clerk told her she'd better buy it by Wednesday. Being the curious type, she asked why.

When they changed from Brooks, they took out a bunch of stuff that used to sit where that empty space is now, as if they were going to remodel the area.

That's pretty abrupt

Did she say why this Rite-Aid is closing, or whether any others in the Boston area are also closing?

Sadly, Nancy did not have her reporter's notebook with her

So she didn't subject the woman to the sort of grilling a grizzled, soused reporter with a fedora and a deadline to meet might. However, the clerk did say the chain was finding jobs for all the workers at other nearby Rite Aids (there's one in Hyde Park, for example).

CVS coming

There was an article recently in one of the local papers about plans for CVS to move into that location, fix up the property, etc.

prescriptions?

Ah, hadn't spotted the CVS news.

Something just doesn't add up. I'm almost sure Rite-Aid sent us a flyer not 2 weeks ago. Moreover, I can't see people being too happy with Rite-Aid if the place that has their prescriptions on file just shut shop?

Doesn't surprise me. I live

Doesn't surprise me. I live a few hundred yards away but chose to drive to CVS to avoid that place. It is good to hear that they are protecting their employees though.
