Price set for forging the governor's signature on a phony endorsement

Governor's Councilor Kelly Timilty will pay an $8,000 fine for those bogus Patrick endorsement mailers.

Not exactly. It's not $8000 out of her pocket, it's $8000 out of her campaign coffers.

Coakley's office confirmed that report and said that Timilty has agreed to have her campaign committee pay a $8,000 civil penalty, eight times the maximum financial penalty that could be imposed after a criminal conviction of falsely claiming an endorsement. As part of the agreement, Timilty must obtain an endorsement in writing before using it in future campaign materials. She will also be required to submit a protocol to Coakley's office and the Office of Campaign and Political Finance for how she will obtain written consent from endorsers.
