What was the deal with the car stuck on the Green Line tracks?
Lisa inquires via a comment here:
Does anyone know anything about the car that got stuck on the track between the Harvard Ave and Griggs Street stop on the Green B line last night? No one's reported anything but there was for sure a car on the tracks and lots of cops/firetrucks....

What time?
At 11pm after getting off my Amtrak train at South Station and plodding down the Green Line with 150+ of my closest friends from the train heading to BC/BU and points Brighton, when we finally got to the Harvard/Griggs area, the track was clear and no signs of any emergency vehicles.

I was on the train that was stuck at Harvard. I decided to walk since I only live a few blocks up the hill. As far as I could tell there were several police cars, a few fire trucks, and an ambulance. I could see the front of a smashed taxi cab on the inbound side of Comm Ave, but I couldn't see much beyond that due to the rain. As I was walking away I heard the firemen getting a saw. Tried to take a picture but there were too many lights and rain.

You beat me! I didn't know about the saw! That sounds scarier than what I thought was going on. I'm glad we communicate well as roommates...
T Alerts
According to the T Alerts I got, it tied things up between about 7 and 8pm. Weirdly, although they specified that passengers were being bused in both directions between Washington Street and Packard's Corner, all three of the alerts I received misidentified the line in trouble as the "Green Line Beacon Line."

I didn't see this, but my roommate was stuck on the train that was supposed to come through right after the accident. She just got off there 'cause it's a reasonable walk from Harvard to our apartment. She said there was a cab involved... It was pouring and that's a terrible intersection, so my best guess would be a minor accident? It sucks that it was right on the T tracks though.
About a half hour after it happened (I'm guessing, based on when she texted me saying "oh hey there's an accident at Harvard in case you're on the T"), I walked by on my way home from Shaw's and there was no evidence of anything. At least it seemed like not a big deal, based on the lack of any kind of emergency personnel or anything hanging around.
So curious!
I walked by as the cops were trying to lift the taxi's hood but I didn't see a saw! I am so curious as to how that car got on the tracks though...with that much response I'm surprised that it's not in the news...
Pics ...
I saw this in my contacts lists on Flickr, looks like historygradguy got pics of the accident, or another accident at the same location?

I got there just as the first police car got there and lookie-looed till they pulled the car away. I don't know how it happened but a car jumped across the tracks and punched through the fence coming to rest on the outbound side of the tracks. The driver, a middle aged man, seemed fine, he was walking around and talking. There was a smashed up Taxi in the outbound lane and the ambulance activity seemed to be mostly around there, so that driver may have been hurt. The firemen had to cut the other car free from the fence and then hauled it away. I must say that they were pretty quick about the whole deal.
