Acela trains and Jack Daniels - a bad combination

By Dave - 12/1/08 - 6:30 pm

It could have been a lot worse for this Canton resident, struck by a speeding Acela train that hit him while he was crossing the tracks trying to get to HoneyDew Donuts™:

Canton Journal reports:

O'Brien added that Daniels was conscious when he saw him after the accident, and that he was looking for his teeth that apparently had been knocked out of his mouth during the accident.

You'll need to read the article to see the full half-assed report of his medical condition -- or should that be the full report of his half-assed medical condition?

I don't know what Canton Junction looks like, but nearby Sharon station has a fence between the two tracks, signs saying that the fence is lubricated to discourage climbing, more signs warning of high speed trains, and an audio "Train Approaching. Stand Behind Yellow Line" announcement. The Acela goes FAST through that station.

According to the news report I saw

Canton does have a fence between tracks, signs, but not sure about the fence lubrication though.

-big fencing, signs- not a small, let-me-run-across-what-are-the-odds kind of a station. I also do not know about whether the fences are lubricated!

All lubed up in Hyde Park
