Keep your pocketbook where you can see it at the West Roxbury library
Boston Police report at least three patrons of the BPL West Roxbury branch have had purses snatched in recent days:
All three reports state that the individuals were sitting at a table in the facility with their bags at their feet.

Greeting Boston Public Library visitors.
Our Boston Public Libraries should greet all library visitors verbally in a more open manner, including our library's regulars. Greeting of BPLers is a gesture often overlooked or it's done in a removed formal manner creating a nonverbal environment of withdrawn BPLusers and withdrawn BPLers.
Staff development programming on a more regular continuing basis is needed for better morale.
BPLers can be initially warm and welcoming then turn away not resuming their initial good will. Other BPLers can be impersonal to the extreme, burned out, jaded.
Dear MIT: Your AI algorithm really needs some work
Because a) It doesn't know that the West Roxbury BPL branch has some very warm and welcoming employees and b) The issue at hand has absolutely nothing to do with any perverse treatment your algorithm might have received at the hands of library personnel in its alpha versions.
You need to change branches
I'm quite happy with the service I get at the BPL. And yes, mostly I use the Copley branch.
I expect staff to be pleasant and efficient when I approach them. I'm at the library to accomplish something and don't generally need to feel fawned over to consider my outing a success.
There are some bad apples-ok I can only think of one (I'm looking at you cranky lady in the av dept who is surrounded by the sweetest most helpful staff in the world). But the rest are pleasant, patient and helpful.
Maybe it's not BPL patrons in general, it's you. You seem somewhat cranky and single-minded.
Audiovisual shelf guide on the web needed.
For BPLusers browsing the shelves the Audiovisual Department needs a graphical shelf guide on their weblink at http://bpl.org/central/audiovisual.htm
somewhat cranky?
Let's go all nouny and just call him a crank.
If I worked at the BPL, I'd feel like hiding when I saw him coming too.

Card catalogs. Bar codes. Shelving.
Shouldn't it be "Centre," seeing how it's West Roxbury and all?
