Cambridge considers renaming Harvard Square street

The Crimson reports on a proposal to rename Plympton Street Halberstam Street after Harvard alum and Pulitzer Prize winner David Halberstam.
The street runs past the offices of the Crimson, on which Halberstam worked, but Crimson editors opposed the proposal, in part because of the costs of redoing stationery and such. One editor "questioned the idea of honoring only one particular individual." Which makes one wonder how a student could get to be a Crimson editor without having heard of JFK Street.

Pulitzer vs. President?
Methinks that perhaps a good president is a far greater personage to honor than a (mere) Pulitzer prize winner. But a good zing on the editor, I agree.
Interesting (well, perhaps not considering the source) how the article is all about how this will affect Harvard, not, y'know, the rest of us who actually live, work, or drive around here daily.

Except for Grolier Poetry bookshop, which the article mentions, is there anything else on that street that isn't part of Harvard University?

I'm going to bet that nearby DeWolfe, Dunster, and Winthrop streets also are named for particular individuals.

Plympton street itself is named for a particular individual. It's just that most people have forgotten who he was.
Plimpton St.
It would be a much less confusing change if they just renamed the street for George Plimpton, another famous dead Harvard alumnus writer. Except he wrote for the Lampoon, which is at the end of the street, and not the Crimson.
Halberstam?
When I hear the name Halberstam the first thing I think of is American Psycho.
