The disaster that is Charles/MGH

Elizabeth gets frustrated as she ponders why it is taking so long to modernize the Charles/MGH stop on the Red Line:

... Why is the WORST intersection and the least accessible T stop next to one of the nation's top hospitals? sadly the powers that be see no urgent need to remedy this transgression of public space & public health/safety.

i agree

This city is backwards....as a resident in the area I am shocked that the T that services the largest hospital in new england, does not have elevator access. Everyday I see patients struggling to walk up and down the slick stairs of the Charles MGH T Stop.

The intersection is horrible, storrow drive is constantly backed up and pedestrians are confused on where to walk.

yes, when this construction is finally done it will be modernized, but it's still astounding that it took the city this long...for a city that stresses using their public transportation, to not have elevators serve MGH's subway stations is atrocious.
